FAQ

There are many things that you should bear in mind when you are shipping a vehicle. Here are the answers to some of the more common questions asked about the car transporter service.

How much will transport cost?
The cost of transport will vary depending on the company and your location relative to your destination. Generally speaking, easy access to both location and destination will make the move cheaper, while out of the way areas will cost more to transport a vehicle to.

How far ahead should I schedule services?
For the best rates and flexibility from the car shipping company, it is best to set up services at least two weeks in advance. You may be able to get last minute services, but they will usually come at a premium.

How should I prepare my vehicle?
Make sure to get your vehicle inspected by a licensed mechanic prior to signing the vehicle over to one of the car transporter drivers. Empty the contents from the vehicle and make sure that everything is locked and secure. Remember, car shippers are not liable for lost or stolen items that you happen to leave in the car. Carefully review the condition of the vehicle and make sure to document any current damage.

Is this service safe?
Yes! Thousands of people choose to ship their vehicles every year, and there are rarely any accidents. While car transporter companies do have a great track record, make sure that your vehicle is insured against any damage that might occur. Be sure to document with pictures the condition of the vehicle before it is signed over to the company.

What if my car is damaged while in transit?
The company that ships your vehicle will have insurance on it that will cover damages to the car. If something is not covered under this policy, then your personal vehicle policy will cover it. Keep in mind that personal possessions that are inside the vehicle will not be covered under these policies. Make sure to walk around your vehicle when it is delivered to note any damage before signing the driver’s paperwork. If you discover damage after the driver leaves, document it and take pictures before contacting the car shippers right away.
